Gas Saving Tips that will put
more Money in your Pocket
It is no secret that the cost of gas is
out of control. Everywhere you go consumers are worried
about it as well as angry. While we can’t control the prices
we can take advantage of various gas saving
tips. Think about all the running around you do in
your vehicle. Carpooling is a very effective way to cut down
on the amount of gas used.
Many individuals consider this option when
it comes to going to and from work. However, there are many
other times when you can do it as well. What about
carpooling to take children to school or to afternoon
activities? You can carpool with a neighbor when you go
grocery shopping as well.
People seem to be in a hurry all the time
these days. You see them weaving in and out of traffic to
get ahead of the pack. You will save gas though if you keep
your vehicle at a constant speed for any length of time.
This is why you get better gas
mileage on the highway than in
town.
Plan your errands well too. You don’t want
to be running all over the place as that costs gas. Make a
list of what you need at the grocery store too. This will
cut down on making additional trips during the week to pick
up various items you forgot. Paying attention to these gas
saving tips can help to ease the pinch for you
somewhat.
Don’t leave your vehicle idling when you
aren’t in it. During the winter months people like to warm
up the car before they go out. You only need to do so for a
few minutes to get the engine warmed up. Take the time to
scrape the windows on your own instead of letting the
defrost kick in 15 minutes after you started the
car.
Likewise, running the air conditioner will
use more gas as well in the summer months. Consider rolling
your windows down part way to allow the air to circulate.
You can also turn the vent on a couple of notches rather
than the air conditioner to cut back on how much fuel you
use.
Every little bit of money we can save on
this expense adds up though as gas prices are only going to
continue to rise. Saving a couple of dollars a week will add
up in the long run. If you can reduce the number of times
per month you have to fill up the tank it will save you
money as well.
